The Right Guide Changes the Day

Whether you're picking up a fly rod for the first time or have spent decades on the water, your guide should bring something to the day you couldn't get on your own. Knowledge, perspective and an experience built around the way you want to fish.

Meet Your Guide

I’ve been fly fishing for more than 30 years, across waters from Alaska to Argentina and Guam to New York, pursuing everything from trout and bass to redfish, bonefish, gar, drum and other species most anglers never think to target with a fly.

What keeps me interested isn’t simply catching fish. It’s figuring them out. As an experienced Alabama fly fishing guide, I approach the Coosa and Alabama's other waters the same way: studying the water, the species and their behavior, then turning that knowledge into a day built around what you want to experience.

I bring that same curiosity to everything I do in fly fishing, whether I'm researching a species, exchanging ideas with other guides or writing for Fly Fisherman and other publications.  Along the way, that approach has led to my becoming the current IGFA fly-fishing length world record holder for Alabama bass.

Your Day...Not Mine

Some anglers want to hunt one difficult species all day. Others want to catch fish, explore new water or learn something they can take home. Sometimes the best day is a little bit of all three.

I’ll bring the preparation, the gear and what I know about the water. From there, the day is built around you. Want instruction? You'll get it. Already know what you're doing? I won't spend the day telling you how to fish. Want to understand why we're fishing a particular piece of water or why a fish is behaving the way it is? We'll dig into it.

There isn't one right way to spend a day on the water. There should just be a reason behind the way we spend yours.
